Just 100 students are selected each year to begin their hotel management careers at Shannon College of Hotel Management, one of Europe’s leading hotel schools. Located in the West of Ireland, Shannon College is renowned internationally for educating some of the world’s most prominent hospitality professionals.

With over 100 hotel partners across 16 countries, students have internship opportunities with prestigious hotel companies including Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Marriott, Jumeirah International and Hilton. Undergraduate students undertake nearly two years of paid, professional internships. Shannon College organises and supervises these internships and has a 100% placement record since 1951.
As a student of Shannon College, you can expect professional practical training, to receive two professional internships and to graduate with a business degree from the National University of Ireland, all of which will equip you to run the operations of hotels and also to manage the business of hotels.

Shannon College specialises in undergraduate degrees in business and hotel management. The Bachelor of Business Studies in International Hotel Management is the most popular degree at Shannon College and is structured as follows:

  • Year 1: Study at Shannon College
  • Year 2: 12 Months Paid Internship (in Ireland)
  • Year 3: Study at Shannon College
  • Year 4: Study at Shannon College
  • End Year 4: 9 Months Paid Internship (worldwide)

Erasmus Programme at Shannon College of Hotel Management

Students undertaking their Year 2 Placement in another EU county may be eligible to receive an Erasmus Mobility Grant, funded by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme: Erasmus. The grant amount varies from county to country and will be based on the recognised cost of living in each country.

Study Abroad at Shannon College of Hotel Management

Shannon College offers Semester Abroad programmes to US students. Both a Fall and Spring semester programme are available. We offer programmes to suit Sophomore, Junior Year and Senior Year students. Shannon College is Ireland’s only dedicated hotel school and is an ideal study destination for students pursuing a hospitality or tourism major. The campus is located in the scenic West of Ireland beside some of Ireland’s most visited tourist sites, such as the Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle. 

Foundation Courses at Shannon College of Hotel Management

Shannon College of Hotel Management offers a Certificate in English Language Studies programme to international students. This English programme is designed for students with an IELTS level of 5.0 or 5.5. It is a 25 week programme focusing on academic English language skills and professional hospitality English language skills.

Student Support Services at Shannon College of Hotel Management

International students at Shannon College of Hotel Management have a dedicated student welfare officer and daily access to accommodation and work placement services. In addition, each class is assigned a Class Tutor to look after the academic needs of students. The college doctor holds clinics daily and students have a dedicated 24 hour emergency contact service.
